Grade K

For this grade level, the Teacher's Manual consists of five units that each contain seven lessons. These units are Ownership, Respect of the Possessions of Others, The Importance of Asking, Self-Control and Do Not Steal. Each lesson builds on the last in order to clarify and reinforce the main concepts taught. Each unit also elaborates on the previous one. The individual units correspond to those in Grade 1, 2, and 3 Curricula, and those build upon the concepts introduced here.

The Teacher's Companion is designed to broaden and further enlighten on the moral concepts taught within the Teacher's Manual. All songs, poems, narratives and skits directly relate to respective lessons in the Teacher's Manual. They provide real life situations with which students can identify and will benefit from because of the repetition of values concerned. They are substantial enough to be effective tools for other lesson areas or subjects.

For this grade level, Grade Five, the Teacher's Manual consists of five units that each contain seen lessons. Our Intermediate Program consists of five units that cover Character, Acceptance, Self-Control, Respect and Responsibility. Each unit is designed and formatted to gently lead the student with the basic concepts of character development to becoming a responsible citizen in society.
Each unit has a corresponding Student Workbook sold separately.

Unit Two--Acceptance This unit of The Peaceful Solution^® Character Education Program will teach students the importance of accepting themselves and the physical and moral characteristics that make them unique. In addition to this, they will learn to appreciate the uniqueness of others and the value of tolerance.

Unit Three--Self-Control This unit on self-control was written to assist in teaching moral values in a clear, concise way that adolescents can easily identify with. Self-control is one of the most significant subjects that can be taught, because it is needed in every aspect of life. Self-control lays the foundation for children to learn many other positive qualities, some of which include responsibility, respect and determination.

Our Advanced Program consists of one unit that covers Character. This unit is designed and formatted to gently lead the student with the basic concepts of character development to becoming a responsible citizen in society.

Unit One--Character The purpose of this Character Unit is to introduce the concept of moral principles to the student and to teach practical ways positive character can be developed and maintained, despite the barriers that exist within our society. Students will explore through news articles, scenarios, plays and thought provoking questions the importance of character in their daily lives and for their future aspirations.

Many of these sources are primarily child focused in that they give helpful techniques for changing the child's behavior. The Peaceful Solution^® Character Education Parenting Program has an interactive focus on both parent and child. Emphasis is placed on teaching adults how to maintain positive behavior such as respect, responsibility and self-control in their lives so they can easily model these behaviors for their children. Parents are taught how to create a suitable learning environment for their children as well as how to monitor the influences that threaten the development of a positive character. The child is then given the best opportunity to develop behavioral patterns and social skills to form moral traits. Inmates Will Develop Self-Control, Responsible Behavior, Social Skills and Positive Character Traits

Character Education, Why It Is Needed
We live in a society where crime and violence are slowly becoming common, daily occurrences. Teens and young adults are involved as much as adults and sometimes more so in these vices. One of the methods that society uses to control these incidences is incarceration, hence our prison systems are bursting with inmates convicted of varied charges which all stem from inappropriate social behaviors.

Most inmates, at some point in their lives, did not receive proper training in discerning right from wrong. They did not receive sufficient guidance to develop responsible behavior and moral competency. This leads to character flaws. The situation changes very little when convicts are incarcerated. Violence is common in prison because the same individuals who were not taught proper social behavior are the ones who end up in prison without any intervention to change their lives.

The Peaceful Solution Character Education Incorporated (PSCEI) recognizes that the way to stop, as well as prevent crime and violence, is to educate people in moral values, respect, how to live peaceably with others, how to develop a right, moral character and hence display responsible behavior.

The PSCEI has developed a character education program that is changing the hearts and minds of young and old from tendencies toward crime and violence to that of peaceful living, responsible behavior and overall positive social interactions. Teaching appropriate responses to different situations allows inmates to become more aware of opportunities where they can apply this behavior in their interactions. With time they will begin to exhibit moral excellence in their characters, which will greatly reduce prison violence.

Inmates who have learned and practiced new behavioral skills see great improvement in their characters. These changes contribute to a more harmonious and peaceful prison environment. The inmates participating in this program tend to resolve conflicts without violence and have a strong sense of inner peace. They also learn to better cope with their confinement and learn new ways of dealing with problems as they arise. Generally speaking, they are better prepared to be released into the community, to become productive members of society. The PSCEP will reduce recidivism by teaching inmates to never commit crimes and acts of violence again.
