character education as its main tool for positive character development.
Concurrent with its purpose, the PSCEI has developed The Peaceful Solution® Character
Education Program (PSCEP) with a variety of courses designed to reach all ages so the

"I
daresay everyone knows that if we expect our children to read and write, we must teach
them to read and write. Yet, the most important education in our children's lives,
character education, is not being taught to them. Until now, our children have been left
to decide for themselves what is right and wrong. It is time to begin guiding our
children, the future leaders of the world, away from the way of hatred and war and
educating them in a peaceful way of living. The Peaceful Solution Character Education
Program is designed to teach our children to live peacefully with their neighbors, from
their parents and teachers, to their peers, siblings and anyone they may meet." ~Yisrayl B.
Hawkins, Author of the PSCEP

The Peaceful Solution® Character Education Program is
already making an impact in the lives of many worldwide. Students, whether children or adults, are exhibiting behavioral changes and
more peaceful attitudes after participating in the PSCEP as a direct result of the lessons
provided in this program. Students are being guided away from hatred and war and into a
peaceful mindset. Take a look at some of the feedback that the PSCEI has received.

following are excerpts from letters we have received. To read the full testimonials, visit
our Testimonial page.) What educators across the nation are saying
about the PSCEP...
"This is an
exceptional program which will meet the needs of educators to provide direction
for the lives of our children so they may live in peace and security, rather than violence
and instability. ...The Peaceful Solution Incorporated is quite an outstanding
organization. Your character education curricula clearly demonstrate practicality,
applicability and solutions to the problems we face today. ...I am pleased to
support your character education program."
~Cecil J. Picard, Louisiana State
Superintendent of Education Read the full testimonial...
"I was most
impressed with the very first lesson about "belonging." Peaceful Solution is the
first program of this sort that addresses the term "belonging" in a unique and
fresh way. It also makes perfect sense. It is my belief that this approach will
eliminate many future problems in my classroom...
...The way the program leads from "ownership" to "self-respect" and,
finally, to "self-control" is fresh and yet perfectly sensible. I am
excited to finish teaching all the lessons and watch the impact it has on student
behavior..."

Our
Prison Program has proven very successful as well. What our educators within the prison
system are saying...
"The Peaceful Solution
Character Education Program was a huge success with my students, and it
provided a new perspective by which they learned to settle disputes in a peaceful manner.
The subject material proved to be challenging and very instrumental in forming a positive
method to solve problems. The feedback between teacher and student was an integral part of
the discussion. A spirit of cooperation developed that wasn't present before, and
while opinions varied at times, my students used the opportunity to express a willingness
to explore new techniques to help each other overcome the negative aspects of prison life."

Programs
The PSCEP consists of three
educational series, namely, Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced, as well as the Parenting
and Prison Programs.
The
Elementary Series (suggested for Kindergarten through Grade Five) focuses
on the five basic principles of positive character development, namely:
(1) Ownership - everything belongs to someone and should be recognized as such, (2)
Respect - to show care and concern for others, (3) Asking - in order to maintain peaceful
relationships, one should ask permission before touching or taking something that belongs
to someone else, (4) Self-control - to stop and think about the current situation, examine
the options, then proceed with the right choice that will benefit all involved and (5) Do
not steal - not to take anything that does not belong to you without permission of the
owner. Through these five principles, our children will learn how to interact peacefully
with each other and avoid situations that lead to violence.
The
Intermediate Series (suggested for Grade Six through Grade Eight) is
structured around issues that specifically appeal to the pre-adolescent and adolescent age
groups. Here, positive character development is explored through the concepts of
respect, acceptance, responsibility, self-control and anger management. Through
these concepts, issues such as promiscuity, substance abuse, bullying and tolerance are
addressed. Students have the opportunity to benefit from a Student's Handbook which
provides reading material, statistical data and real life scenarios which help the reader
to see the consequences of negative social behaviors and the benefits of positive social
behaviors.
The
Advanced Series (suggested for Grade Nine and beyond) is of a similar
structure to that of the intermediate but with additional information on life skills and
healthy relationships needed to help students mature and become stabilized in the adult
world. Embodied in this curriculum are themes, such as substance abuse, respect for life,
food and health, promiscuous behavior, sexual activity, marriage and planning for your
future.
The
Parenting Program is a complementary workshop through which parents will understand
the learning process of children and the effects of the environment (family and community)
on character development. Parents will appreciate the importance of developing
and maintaining positive character so children can model their behaviors. With this
information, parents will be better equipped to reinforce in their homes, the concepts of
the PSCEP taught to their children at school.
The
Prison Program consists of a teacher's manual with thirteen lesson plans,
a music CD, and a prison testimonial video designed to help inmates develop self-control,
responsible behavior, social skills and positive character traits through teaching and
problem-solving scenarios. The inmates participating in this program receive the
tools necessary to resolve conflicts without violence. They learn how to better
cope with their confinement and identify positive ways of dealing with problems. Inmates
are then better prepared to returned to the community to become productive members of
society. The PSCEP aims to reduce recidivism by teaching inmates never to commit crimes or
acts of violence again. It teaches how to obtain everything a person needs or desires by
peaceful means without harm to others. This program promises to be an effective
alternative to incarceration as well as a practical post-release program.
